How To Be Resourceful Without Being Needy

No one likes feeling used by other people, but we need each other to survive and ultimately achieve our goals. This skill is called resourcefulness. It is one skill that everyone should master, and it is the skill that will get you jobs, and possibly one day make you rich. Although it is mainly used in the context of people, it applies to anything. It is the basis of finding an use for everything and everyone, and being able to think outside of the box.

It is a simple concept, but hard to put into action. A good way to learn how to be resourceful is to stop looking at other people’s bad aspects, instead trying to figure out what we can learn from them and their capabilities. After all, no one is perfect, and we can look either positively or negatively at the people we meet. But once you start looking at them positively, a sense of mutual respect will be created as begin to show an appreciation for who they are and the strengths they have to offer. Using this technique, you will also be able to create a relationship with the person. You could compare being resourceful as a situation where you found yourself a friend with benefits. You have created a relationship with the person, where there is some sort of trust, and you are both seeing each other’s advantages. You bring something to the table as well as the other person, which leaves you both satisfied.

We can take some lessons from the friends with benefits situations, which would apply to building your resourcefulness skill:

Appreciate The Strengths

As we talked about before, you must be willing to always see the potential of other people. This will keep your relationships and connections strong, because you are appreciating people for who they are. Keep in mind that if you have never applied this concept before, you should start with your current friends and family. Although this will help you build your skill, it will also help you to create a more positive atmosphere for yourself. Another important thing to note is that you never know who the people that will benefit you are. So you should apply this concept with everyone you meet.

Bring Something To The Table

Whether you like it or not, you are bringing some sort of value to the other people in your current relationships. You may not be bringing materialistic stuff, but rather happiness, hope, trust, comfort, or other types of value. If you did not bring some sort of value to the relationship, you would not have a relationship with that person to begin with. For example, if you did not bring a sense of trust around your friends, they would have never shared their darkest secrets with you. To create a strong relationship, the first thing you should be thinking of is how you are bringing value to the other person. This element is very important in building your resourcefulness. Once you create a relationship and you have brought value to other people, they will be more willing to help you out, and they will be thinking of ways to bring value to themselves. People will also be more open to talk about what they do, and how they do things.

Strong Connections

You cannot just get what you want and leave. This will create a bad reputation for yourself. There are a lot of benefits to keeping relationships with everyone you meet. You never know when this person will be able to help you again, and you may create a positive reputation for yourself which may lead you to new contacts. Remember, your network equals your net worth.

Resourcefulness

Although these are just a few components, being resourceful is much more complex than that. You must be constantly thinking about how to find ways to give value, and ways to receive it. There is always an exchange of value, and that is what relationships are. No matter your situation, you should always be giving back to society and people. When you do this, your resourcefulness will be rewarded. Next: work on your creativity.
